About the Speakers

Fernando Diaz currently serves as the Chief Financial Product Officer for Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs. Under this role, he oversees the Illinois Secure Choice Retirement Savings Program, the ABLE Program (Achieving a Better Life Experience), and the 529 College Savings Programs: Bright Start and Bright Directions.

Rodrigo Garcia is the Chief Investment Officer and Chief Financial Officer for the Illinois State Treasury. He directs the treasury’s combined $25 billion fixed income, equity, and venture capital portfolios, all investment and financial professionals, multiple asset classes and $300 billion in related banking and financial services in order to maximize portfolio returns and bolster the Illinois macro and micro economy.

Martin Noven joined the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) as its executive director Nov. 2, 2016. SURS is one of five Illinois state retirement systems, providing retirement, survivor, disability and death benefits to more than 230,000 employees and retirees from 61 public universities, colleges and state agencies. SURS has more than $20 billion dollars of assets under management.

Moderator

Chasse Rehwinkel is the Chief Economist for the Illinois State Comptroller Office, where he works on issues of state liquidity, public budgeting, debt issuance, and access to capital. Previous to coming to Comptroller’s Office Chasse served in a number of state and local government roles.
