Prof. William Howell on NPR's 'All Things Considered' May 30, 2024 William Howell, Sydney Stein Professor at the Harris School of Public Policy and director of the Center for Effective Government, was interviewed by Scott Detrow, host of NPR's All Things Considered, on May 30, 2024, the day that former President Donald Trump was found guilty on 34 felony counts that he faced in the first criminal trial of a former U.S. president. The headline, though, is that he's a convicted felon, and we've never had a president be a convicted felon even though there's a long history of presidential scandal, even though there's a long history of presidents making very bad policy decisions, abusing their powers in all sorts of ways. We've never had a convicted felon. Now we do, Howell told Detrow.
