Broadly speaking, you have devoted most of your education to facts and logic, but Aristotle taught us that facts and logic are only one of the three vital means of influence and persuasion. Effective leaders know or intuit that they must forge a profoundly emotional connection with people and then embody their message by visibly living it for everyone to see.

Today we understand that emotional intelligence is at the heart of compelling leadership and that great leaders cast themselves as veritable servants to people. What has come to be known as servant leadership is thousands of years old, with roots in all seven of the world’s great religions. It is beginning to enjoy a renaissance of sorts, but servant leadership is still rare enough to be a curiosity — and an elixir of great leaders.

In this workshop, we’ll take a look at both the emotional intelligence of effective leadership and at the work of servant leadership. We’ll look at the role of humility, self-awareness, vulnerability, authenticity, service, and more. Participation in the workshop will qualify for five Professional Development Credits. Attending will help students earn the Leadership Credential even faster!
