From Foreign Affairs January 24, 2023 Professor Chris BlattmanExperts were asked if they agreed or disagreed that the most likely outcome of the war in Ukraine is a negotiated settlement that involves Kyiv making some territorial concessions to Russia. They were then asked to rate their confidence level in their opinion. Foreign Affairs spoke to Ramalee E. Pearson Professor of Global Conflict Studies Chris Blattman who disagreed and was moderately confident in his opinion and John Dewey Distinguished Service Professor Konstantin Sonin who also disagreed but was more confident in his assessment. Professor Konstantin Sonin"I do not think that Russia will accept any reasonable negotiated settlement under Putin, who has not changed his maximalist objectives even though they cannot be achieved," Professor Sonin said. "With Putin gone, Ukraine and the West will be able to force a full Russian withdrawal." Full coverage available at Foreign Affairs.
