Get Started with the Recruiting Process

HarrisLink, our online employer information, jobs, and internships database, is the place to start for employers interested in recruiting at Harris. While you can forward job descriptions to the Career Development Office, we encourage all organizations to create a HarrisLink account to post positions, view student resumes, and receive notifications of ongoing events and new services.

Recruiting Calendar

Harris’s academic year is divided into three quarters. On-campus recruiting takes place during the Fall (September-December), Winter (January-March), and Spring (March-June) quarters. Our academic calendar provides dates for exams, holidays, student break, and special events.

On Campus Recruiting Dates and Information Sessions

On-campus and virtual information sessions and recruiting dates allow you to highlight your organization, promote full-time employment and internship opportunities, and outline qualifications you seek in job candidates.

Employers can request an on-campus recruiting date through HarrisLink by accessing the on-campus recruiting tab. You can also contact Adam McGriffin, Director of Career Development and External Partnerships at or 773.834-4126 to schedule an information session or on-campus recruiting date.

With the exception of special events, information sessions are held at the Harris Public Policy. Space is limited and advance reservations are encouraged. A member of our staff will notify you once your date, time, and room are confirmed.

Times and Catering

The best time to schedule an information session is over lunch (approximately 12:00 p.m.-1:15 p.m.), Monday through Thursday.

Employers often choose to provide lunch or snacks for students attending information sessions. The Career Development Office is happy to provide assistance in placing refreshment orders for your presentation.

A/V equipment is provided free of charge. For virtual information sessions, please indicate your video conferencing preferences.

Advertising and Employer Brochure

We encourage you to email posters and flyers to the Career Development Office to promote your organization. Students typically access information about organizations through HarrisLink.

As a service to our employers, the Career Development Office provides parking passes for visiting organizations. Passes must be reserved in advance for the parking lot located directly behind Chicago Harris.

Scheduling Interviews

Employers are advised to schedule interviews the day of an information session or at a later time. Interviews are held between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., allowing for two 15-minute breaks and an hour for lunch. However, interview schedules can also be customized to fit employers’ needs. Please contact Adam McGriffin, Director of Career Development and External Partnerships at or 773.834-4126 for assistance. To conduct a virtual interview, please indicate your video conferencing preference.

Post-Interview Communication

The Career Development Office compiles information regarding employer offers for our students and alumni. We use this information for reporting purposes only, and it will not be personally identifiable. Please provide the following information to our office: recruiter's name, student's name, position title, location, and annual salary/internship stipend. We also appreciate receiving feedback about our students throughout the interview process.
