Policy Analysis

Harris Policy Labs is an intensive experiential learning initiative in which teams of second-year graduate students work under faculty supervision to apply their rigorous Harris education to help client organizations resolve real-world public policy challenges.

Led by Professor Diane Grams, this Lab focuses on urban economic development.

  • Three areas of urban economic development will be covered: impact evaluation, survey data to strengthen the local economy, and governance models. Students can participate in projects that build on the work conducted by prior students in Gary or making recommendations to guide Chicago's riverfront development.

  • Clients include: City of Gary, Indiana, Place Lab/Theaster Gates, Metropolitan Planning Council

Students will receive one letter grade and 100 units of course credit (one full course) upon completion of each one-quarter Policy Lab.

Important Note: In addition to registering, students need to complete the Project Preference Form by Monday, September 11, 2017 to request your preferred project. The form can be submitted even if you have not registered for classes.

Notes

Individual Policy Lab projects in this Lab may be eligible for certificate requirements. If you are pursuing a certificate, please check that certificate’s website for details on requirements.
